Impact on the first level of medical careNCC has an impact through its clinical manifestations, the most frequent of which is epilepsy (PLE)29,30. From a theoretical perspective, an increase in the frequency of PLE would be expected in areas of endemic NCC. There are significant differences in the incidence and prevalence of PLE when comparing developed versus developing countries. Globally, PLE affects 5 to 10/1,000 subjects on average, with 80% living in developing countries.
