Interspinous microscopic tubular decompression for lumbar spinal stenosis

Interspinous microscopic tubular decompression for lumbar spinal stenosis

Abstract
The main goal of surgical treatment of LSS is to decompress the neural elements in the spine. The specific surgical approach to adopt depends on the site of stenosis in the lumbar spine, the number of affected segments, the associated deformity or instability, any history of previous surgeries and the skill and knowledge of the spine surgeon (Lurie & Tomkins-Lane 2016). The main goal of this chapter is to show a new technique based on a microscope-assisted tubular approach applied in an anatomic corridor between the cranial and caudal spinal processes of the lumbar spine, with the objective of decompressing the neural elements.
